The Mekong Delta on Wheels (3 days / 2 nights)

Bicycle is without a doubt THE best way to explore the Mekong Delta. You really get the flavor of this truely beautiful region.

Ho Chi Minh City - Ben Tre - Vinh Long - Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City

Day 1:  Ho Chi Minh City - Ben Tre – (Cycling 50km)

Drive to Tan An. From Tan An cycle 35km to My Tho through typical delta scenes of rice paddies, fields of crops, flower gardens and local markets. At My Tho embark on a boat to Con Qui Island for lunch. At Con Qui, transfer to small sampan and float through narrow, tree-lined canals and enjoy a brief walk on Quoi Son Island, trying native fruits and viewing local handicraft production.

From Quoi Son, cycle 15km to Phu Tuc commune to meet a local family and enjoy a dinner of Mekong Delta cuisine. After dinner take in a performance of traditional rural music. Spend the night in a local house in Ben Tre.

OVERNIGHT AT HOMESTAY IN BEN TRE. 

Day 2:  Ben Tre – Mo Cay – Can Tho - (Cycling 50km)

Leave Phu Tuc after breakfast and drive to Mo Cay. Start cycling along quiet country roads and visit a family-run enterprise making coconut candies as well as fruit orchards and an old church in Cai Mon. Continue by car to the riverside town of Vinh Long to take lunch. Then continue by car and /or bike to Can Tho.

OVERNIGHT IN CAN THO.

Day 3:  Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City

Morning boat cruise to visit Cai Rang floating market. The market is filled with small boats darting through the water as vendors sell their wares. Cruise through small canals and stop at an orchard to taste some succulent Mekong fruits. From here take a “xe loi” - a pedicab drawn by a motorbike - to visit the Binh Thuy old house, a local market and a temple. Return to Ho Chi Minh City .
